Introduction of Department

The Department of Mathematics at Late Babasaheb Deshmukh Gorthekar Mahavidyalaya
was established in the year 2012 with an under graduate course. Initially student's strength
was 10. Since then the department has been climbing the ladder of success and by 2016, the
intake was increased to 42 students. It was further increased to 65 during the academic year
2017-18. At present the department consists of 3 faculty members on clock hour basis; 1 with
doctorate degrees, 2 faculty members SET/NET and pursuing doctorate degree in
mathematics.

Vision

To impart sufficient mathematical foundation to the rural students enabling them to become
mathematical thinkers and lifelong learners.

Mission

The mission of the mathematics department is to provide an environment where rural
students can learn and become competent users of mathematics and mathematical
applications. Moreover, the department will contribute to the development of rural students as
mathematical thinkers, enabling them to become lifelong learners, to continue to grow in
their chosen professions, and to function as dynamic citizens of India. In pursuing this
mission, primary departmental functions are the development, dissemination, and application
of mathematical knowledge.
